US DOL Launches Employee Tool for Determining FFCRA Leave

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has created an online tool to help workers determine whether they qualify for paid leave under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA).

The tool poses questions to help employees assess whether their employers are subject to the paid leave provisions of the FFCRA. Then, for employees whose employers are covered by the law, the tool helps determine whether the workers qualify for FFCRA paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave.

Mandated Paid Leave

The introduction of this tool is likely to solicit more requests for leave. Employers must become familiar with their obligations under the FFCRA, including what documentation is considered sufficient for leave, the amount of leave required and pay amounts for leave as the DOL is working to protect employee rights during the pandemic.
